Reiki
The Usui System
of Natural
Healing

What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient natural
treatment for the improvement of the body, mind and spirit.
It originated in the 1800’s by
Japanese Reiki Master Usui Mikao. For centuries, Reiki was taught in
The Usui system of Reiki continues
to be taught today by Reiki Masters who are trained in the original
traditions of Reiki and whose personal and professional lives are
committed to this healing art and the lifestyle it engenders.
Reiki means "universal life energy."
The word consists of two parts: "rei" which describes the universal,
boundless aspects of this energy, and "ki," a part of rei, which is the
vital life force energy which flows through all living things.
It is a natural healing technique
that uses "laying-on of hands." When activated and applied for the
purposes of healing, Reiki addresses body, mind and spirit. It
accelerates the body’s ability
to heal physical ailments and
opens the mind and spirit to the causes of disease, pain and disharmony.
It encourages one to take responsibility for one’s life and good health.
People with physical, psychological
or emotional needs can benefit from Reiki session. Reiki is a powerful,
but gentle energy, and has been used to aid in the healing virtually
every known illness of mind, body and spirit. It does not replace
traditional medicine, but rather compliments the healing process. It can
be incorporated effectively into the healing professional’s arts by
health professionals. Reiki is deeply relaxing and creates a sense of
well being which increases the rate of recovery. The sensation felt by
the recipient of a Reiki session is usually a
deep feeling of warmth and comport. The recipient may also feel
coolness, or vibrations.
A Reiki Session
is a light, hands on process whereby a Reiki practitioner transfers
universal life force to the recipient. The session is safe and
non-intrusive and the recipient can remain fully clothed. During a full
Reiki session, the practitioner directs healing energy to several
areas in a light, hands-on or hands-off process. The Reiki practitioner
is a conduit for the energy and therefore is not doing the healing. The
receiver’s willingness and acceptance determines the progress that can
be made in her/his own healing process. Reiki is defined as a
spiritually guided life force and is directed by our highest spiritual
source.
Reiki
and Christians
Reiki is not a religion! It does not
require that you alter your faith base in any way. It does not interfere
with your religious convictions. However there are still many Christians
concerned that Reiki may conflict with their beliefs. Please

this topic.
Cost
effective?
Absolutely! A Reiki session is
quite affordable. The cost of a Reiki session is generally the same as
the price of a massage. Reiki deals with the entire person - mind, body, and
spirit.
Although the service is not covered
by health insurance, the relief from stress and the return to harmony is
priceless.
Can
I become a Reiki practitioner?
Anyone who wants to learn this method can. There is no prerequisite. Reiki is non-intrusive, non-invasive and supports all healing methods. Once Reiki is learned, you’ve become a healing practitioner. You may use it alone to enhance your own well being or that of others. You may also choose to take advanced courses to do healing at a distance or become a Reiki Master and teach this wonderful art to others.
